Susan G Komen Charity And Many Other So Called Charities Are Misusing Their Donations.

As is stated directly on the Komen for the Cure promotional website in small print, “Customer purchases of KFC buckets during the promotion will not directly increase the total contribution.” And yet the Komen for the Cure website proudly proclaims, “Each bucket makes a difference. Help make the largest single donation to end breast cancer FOREVER.” This is an outright lie. Each bucket you buy doesn’t make any difference at all, as is admitted on their own website. This is an organization promoting fried chicken as a cure for breast cancer and using deceptive language to imply that buying fried chicken raises money for ending cancer. But you have to read the small print to learn that’s not really true. KFC is loaded with MSG which has been linked to cancer, so in essence your buying and supporting a food which will most likely give you cancer to try and fight cancer. But at least you’re donating to a good cause right? Wrong, as stated above “Customer purchases of KFC buckets during the promotion will NOT directly increase the total contribution”.  Documents show that the Susan G Komen Foundation raises a lot of money however only  donates a very small amount to cancer research.

“Absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

Charities in theory and in some cases are  beneficial organizations for various diseases and tragedies. Unfortunately they are also big businesses with incredible tax breaks and the ability to create their own salary. Some of the most profitable businesses in the US are non profit organizations and charities. This is the problem it creates, when there is a very lucrative business with huge tax breaks and very little regulation. I imagine it’s hard to help the cause  when is necessary to pay huge salaries. Of course all charities aren’t misusing their donations.  It is the intention of this article to educate the reader enough to do their homework on charities before donating. I would also like to suggest that you help a cause or someone directly. Instead of donating  0. to a charity and only . to . is going to the actual cause,  why not find some one in your community to help directly. This takes the middle man out of the equation and also will let you see  exactly  where your money is going. You can find people through word of mouth, visit your local hospital or cancer center and ask for low income patients and cases in which you could help. Imagine how much more rewarding it will be to actually meet the individual you are helping and see your money helping them directly.
