The strongest programs at Drexel University are offered by the Department of Mathematics, which consistently ranks among the top 10 programs in the United States.

The strength of the mathematics undergraduate program is reflected in the large number of its graduates who go on to top doctoral programs at schools such as Princeton and Harvard. Drexel itself offers a rigorous graduate program, that draws many of the nation’s best mathematics graduates.

The mathematics program also maintains an active Math Forum that has been ranked as one of the most popular mathematical resources on the Internet by the Scientific American magazine. The Bachelor in Business Administration program, offered by the Bennett S. LeBow College of Business, is another strong program at Drexel, drawing over two thousand students each year.

The Financial Times ranks the business major as one of the top 20 in the United States, pointing out that students at Drexel are able to land choice internships as well as highly competitive job positions after graduation, largely due to the incorporation of real world business strategies into the business curriculum. Another Drexel program that scores top marks is the Bachelor’s Degree in Appropriate Technology offered by its School of Engineering.

This program is the only one of its kind in the world and it strives to incorporate the applications of engineering with social considerations such as rampant global poverty and climate change. Therefore, students in Appropriate Technology design machines that will be accessible to the poor or that will cause minimal environmental damage. The visionary nature of this course has drawn many aspiring engineers to Drexel and seems set only to gain in popularity in the years to come.
